Porch roofs and chimneys
Two repairs account for most of the calls downtown. The porch roof is too flat for shingles and has been patched for fifty years; we replace that section with a modified-bitumen membrane and flash it into the main roof properly. The chimney has original flashing and no cricket; we rebuild it in metal, cut counter-flashing into the mortar joints and add the cricket. Both outlast the next three patches.

For a straight re-roof inside the City of Conroe, no. If decking or rafters get replaced — common on the 1920s houses — the city permits it and we pull it.
Is board decking a problem for a new roof?
